Monologue

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing the 200 club. Describing a group within Youngevity that are wanting to live to be 200 years old. Explaining that a Canadian study found that given the right nutrients cells could stop telomere shortening when dividing. Previously it was thought that a cell could only divide 51 times before it dies.

Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about the sugar industry. Apparently the Sugar Association commissioned a study in 1970 that found rats fed a diet high in sugar had an increased risk of heart disease and bladder cancer. Before the study was completed it was halted by the sugar industry. Much like the tobacco industry hid the knowledge that tobacco causes cancer.

Callers
Patricia has high blood pressure and is recovering from throat cancer.

Lori has been diagnosed with high cholesterol.

Chris’s mother has chronic muscle pain and slurred speech.

Shirley has questions about varicose veins.
